I celebrate the life you had and are now living. As sad it is for us left here for awhile, we are comforted knowing we will be gathering some day. I remember the day you were born and how exciting to be a Mother of this precious baby girl. You worked so hard to live in the beginning and I loved you so much. Pamela, it has been now 9 years. But the loss of a child is not something one gets use to. Many times I think about the days of child hood and am blessed. It's been seven years since my beautiful sister passed from this life into the next... quickly, peacefully, in the wee hours of that Friday morning. I think I miss her more now than when she died. Way too many times I have thought about calling her to talk to her about something, or to ask her a question about the past... a question that only she or I could answer. I will see her again, that much I know. For when she was diagnosed with that horrific brain tumor, she very boldly declared that she 'returned to her childhood faith'. I pray that if you don't know Jesus as your Lord and Savior, that you will take the time to make things right with Him. June 11, 2009 ~ This would have been Pam's 54th Birthday.
For most all of our lives, Pam and I were aware of how 'different' we were. Other people commented on it, we talked about it, we laughed about all the 'opposite' things we could point out about the two of us. Now that she's gone, it's all about our similarities... how 'alike' we truly were. Although vastly different at first glance: her long, dark, straight hair was quite a contrast to my short, blond and curly locks; I guess there were things about us all along that were very much the same. I wish we would have celebrated those similarities while she was alive. When Sarah and I are together, well... Sarah reminds me of Pam, I remind Sarah of Pam, yet Sarah and I are not much alike at all. Or so I have thought. I'm going to be visiting family soon, in Oregon AND Washington... and I'm going to be looking for those things that I have maybe missed in the past. I feel very compelled to celebrate FAMILY... And while looking for those biological commonalities... let us not forget that FAMILY does not always mean blood-related. My sister-in-law, Lyssa... is my sister. My step-Dad, Bob... is my Dad. No disrespect meant to my sister OR my Dad who have both passed on... and Lyssa and 'Dad' have never tried, NOR do they want, to replace the others; but I believe it's God's way of providing what we need. I am thankful for all the 'family' God has brought to me. Pam, you always challenged me to look beyond the 'obvious'... so as I have reflected on you and your life today... I can't believe it's been 5 years, Pam. I think about you a lot. I just wrote this whole long page and deleted it. There are so many things I could say.... but I find that as time goes on, they become harder to put into words.
