Otto O. Tveten's Obituary
Otto Oscar Â"SandyÂ" TvetenOtto O. Â"SandyÂ" Tveten, born March 9, 1907 in Willmar, Minnesota, passed away at his home in Tahuya, Washington on Hood Canal, May 4, 2006 at the age of 99. Sandy enjoyed a long happy life with his loving family and wonderful friends. Sandy was born to Otto and Christina Tveten, his father passed away three days before he was born. In 1910 his mother married Erik Tveten and Sandy moved with his 2 brothers and three sisters to Nakomis, Saskatchewan Canada where they lived in a one room sod house. By 1916 Sandy had four brothers and four sisters. In 1922 he moved to Tacoma where he worked for the Milwaukee Railroad for two years and then worked in the fuel business until 1934. He got a job with Texaco, driving a tank truck for eleven years and then he owned and operated two Texaco stations with his sonÂ's and grandson in Lakewood, one on Gravelly Lake Drive and one on Bridgeport Way. He built a mobile home park in Lakewood, owned and operated SandyÂ's Resort in Tahuya Washington, developed property in Lakewood and on Hood Canal. Sandy enjoyed over 45 winters at his home in Palm Springs. He loved to hunt and fish, travel, play cards, tell stories and loved every minute he shared with his family. By his love and commitment he provide a happy healthy future for his family and memories that they will cherish forever. Sandy was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Marguerite M. Tveten, son, Richard A. Tveten Sr., grandson, Richard A. Tveten Jr., and wife of 12 years Ruth Teagan Tveten. He is survived by his son Eugene Tveten and daughter-in-law Janie, daughter LynnDee Peterson and son-in-law Rick, and daughter-in-law Betty Tveten. Grandchildren Â- Kris, Scott, Terese, Tammy, Tricia, Krista and Kari. Great Grandchildren Â- David, Bill, Erik, Katy, Kylie, Jonathan, Kasey, Andrea, John, Kirsten and McKena. Great Great Grandchildren Â- Jesse, Gillian and Madaline.A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 13, 2006 at the Valley Chapel at Mountain View Memorial Park, with a reception to follow.
