Ottilia Condos' Obituary
Ottilia Lacher Condos. She came from a centuries old farming heritage. Crop failure and famine drove her early family and entire communities to free land and the promise of no military servitude to Odessa, Ukraine. The famines followed them and thousands perished as did the promise of not having to fight in the feuds of kings. Once again a great exodus came. The bulk of these relations settled in the southern portion of North Dakota. Tillie was born in her mother’s home. She married young at seventeen to Anton Lacher; a veteran of World War 2. Otillia was mother of ten children. Six girls, Barbara, Rose, Gladys, Marlene, Cynthia and Sharon. Four boys James, Richard, Ralph, and James. Another tragedy (the barn burned down) and the family finds itself in exodus settling in Tacoma. When Anton passed, her children, nine grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild were there for her. An old friend — James Condos — said let’s get married and they spent the next fifteen years together. Not twelve years after saying goodbye to James we say goodbye to one of the last representatives of the pioneer spirit. Tillie has gone home. She waits with Christ for us all.
