Gene and I once worked hard on a boat we had bought, we sanded painted, sealed, and worked long hours on it. But when we were going to take it to the bay to test it, we made a mistake in handling it and it dropped down to the pavement. We couldn't see any damage so we went ahead and loaded it up on the trailer and hauled it to the boat launch at the bay. We got it in the water and started off but immediately turned around and headed back for the trailer as water was pouring in and we would be sinking if we did not make it back It wasn't
funny then, but as years passed we did refer back to it and laugh.
