Orville J. Hostetter's Obituary
Former Tacoma resident, Orville J. Hostetter of Everett died Saturday, April 23, 2005 at Providence Everett Hospital after a brief hospitalization for congestive heart failure.Mr. Hostetter was born November 14, 1917 in Tacoma to Emma and Orville A. Hostetter.After graduating from Lincoln High School in Tacoma, Mr. Hostetter worked for the Boeing Company and Great Northern Railroad. He retired from Burlington Northern in 1984 after 40 years of service. He took great pride in reaching number one conductor status following in his fatherÂ's footsteps.He was an accomplished musician throughout his life playing the organ and violin. He performed professionally with the Seattle Symphony and the Bellevue Philharmonic as well as with several other groups.Mr. Hostetter was a member of the University of Washington Alumni Association and an avid Seahawks and Husky football fan. He was a proud Husky football season ticket holder for over 40 years and attended many Rose Bowl games.He was also a long term member of Calvary Temple, now known as Calvary Christian Assembly in SeattleHe is survived by his children: Sharon Wortman of Renton; Dennis Hostetter of Kirkland; Janine Schroeder of Vancouver; Vicki Bond and David Hostetter of Bothell.; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Additional survivors include his sister, June Schultz of Silverlake, a niece and nephews.A private burial will be conducted on April 29th at Mountain View in Tacoma with a memorial service to follow at Calvary Christian Assembly in Seattle at a later date.Arrangements by Mountain View Funeral Home. 584-0252.
