Orville Eugene Estvold's Obituary
Orville Estvold, 90, beloved and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend went home to the Lord on October 17, 2010. He was born July 26, 1920 in Whitman ND, spent his early years in Parshall, ND and came to Tacoma more than 70 years ago. Orville lived his faith and taught by example. He was a humble, thoughtful and generous man; a friend to all he met. He loved learning about others' lives and backgrounds. Everyone was important to him. He had a phenomenal people memory B if you met him fifty years ago he probably remembered to the end your birth date, home town and family. Despite some difficult years he retained his sense of humor and interest in others. Orville graduated from Lincoln High School in 1938 and served in the Coast Guard both domestically and overseas during WWII. He retired from the US Postal Service after serving neighbors and friends for 27 years. Orville lost his devoted wife, Iyone, last May after 62 years of marriage. He is survived by his six children, Parker (Norma), Terry (Kay), David, Dan, Greg (Jackie) and Penny Hansen (Dale); seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. A memorial service and celebration of a life well lived will be held on Sunday, October 24 at 2:00 pm in the Tacoma Lutheran Home Chapel, 1301 N. Highlands Pky. Memorial donations can be made to the Chaplaincy Endowment Fund at the Tacoma Lutheran Home.
