Ora Ellen Brown's Obituary
Ora Ellen Brown passed away peacefully at her home of 61 years on November 13th, 2015 with her loving daughters by her side, joining her husband in Heaven. Ora was born May 27th, 1925, the daughter of Isaiah and Mary Williams of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
After moving to Tacoma Washington with her parents, Ora affiliated with Bethlehem Baptist Church. She was a devoted member for over fifty years under the Pastor ship of the late Reverend E.B. Wilson. During this time she was a faithful member of the Nurses Chore (Health and Wellness), the Women's Choir, the Willing Workers Circle and the Appreciation Committee.
Ora met and married Robert Eugene Brown (Bobby). Together they had four children. Bobby had the corner house on 10th and Trafton built where they raised their children and never moved. That house has made memories for hundreds of neighborhood children that Ora was a second mom to.
Ora's career began in 1945 in food service at Madigan Army Hospital. After seven years working in the dining hall she decided to take advantage of a nurse's aide course that was offered to her. After successfully completing the course she transferred to the pediatric ward where she was offered a position in the Clinic under the supervision of Dr. Angel Vasquez. When the Department of Family Practice was started in 1974, Dr. Vasquez graciously asked her to join him. Ora was extremely proud of the over 40 years of service she achieved and has received numerous awards and accolades for her work throughout her career. Ora loved traveling the world. She made trips with her many girlfriends to places like the Caribbean, Japan and The Holy Land. Ora would love to recall all the many memories shared during her travels. Ora also loved working in her garden. Her yard and flowers were always something she was very proud of, but her biggest love was that of her family, her children and her grandchildren. Preceded in death husband Robert Eugene Brown; Father Isaiah Williams; Mother Mary Williams and brother Ronney Williams. Ora is survived by four children, Robert Brown Jr.; Keith Brown (wife Patty Brown); Shawn Fortner (husband John Fortner) and Kimbley Brown. Grandchildren; Spencer, Brandon, Wyatt, Kari and Amy.
