Olinda Hoffman's Obituary
Olinda went peacefully to be with her beloved Savior on Friday evening, July 10th, 2009, in Tacoma, WA at the age of 87. Olinda was born in Hardin, Montana, October 21, 1921, to Charlotte and Jacob Herman, and was the youngest of nine children. She grew up in a caring family in Laurel, MT and moved to Tacoma when she married Henry Hoffman, June 28th, 1941. She and Henry enjoyed 55 years of devoted marriage.
Olinda, a founding member, attended Good Shepherd Lutheran Church for 59 years, during which time she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School classes, sang in the choir, served on the alter guild and with LWML. Family and her deep abiding faith in Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord were the focus of Olinda's life, consistently sharing the gospel with all who would listen. Her family and friends were blessed by her loving kindness, wisdom, and ever present helping hands. In difficult times, one could always hear Olinda saying, -Å"I'm not going to worry, things will work out, God will provide,- and He did. Raising her family gave Olinda much joy and fulfillment. When her children were young, Olinda participated in the PTA, served as a Brownie and Girl Scout leader and was active in community affairs. Later she worked for the Tacoma Public School System as a cook and baker for 15 years, until 1983. Olinda was a woman with many interests. She was a culinary and baking expert. She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, was an excellent seamstress and gifted in several varieties of needlework. Other hobbies included: ceramics, cake decorating, flower arranging, oil painting, playing the piano and organ, and writing poetry. She loved giving and sharing all of these things with others.
Olinda was preceded in death by her parents, all her brothers and sisters, her husband, and a granddaughter. She is survived by her son, Larry Hoffman and his wife Sandra, of Tacoma; daughter Gloria Ford and husband Gary of Auburn; son Kenneth Hoffman of Lynnwood; Grandchildren Philip (Ellen) Hoffman, Stephanie Hoffman, Matthew (Angelina) Ford, Timothy (Shawna) Ford; and great grandchildren Amira, Atalya, Caleb, Tyler, and Zackary. All will deeply miss her.

Thank you for stopping by the site. This is a prefabricated site so we don't have a lot control or as much flexibility as we would like. That's why this info is placed here. Also, please ignore the 'Light A Candle' Tribute popup window info, it is simply a funding source for this website for which mom's charities receive no benefit.
We would love to hear from you. You can leave a memory here or better yet you can mail any cards, memories, or memorials to Larry. We will all share in the memories, and Larry will distribute memorials to Christian missions dedicated to spreading the Gospel that mom loved and supported so faithfully for many years.
