Olga Caprara's Obituary
A great friend, mother, grandmother, and humble servant, she passed away peacefully October 5, 2005 in Tacoma, WA. She was born in Trieste, Italy on September 5, 1918. She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Caprara, Sr. whom she married in 1948 in Italy. They traveled the world as he honorably served our country with the U.S. Army. In 1956, Tacoma became home. She discovered a love for serving others as a volunteer that eventually spanned 41 years and over 37, 000 hours. Over the years, her exceptional service was through many organizations that included the Red Cross, VFW, Easter Seal Society, Special Olympics, USO, Sons of Italy, the Orting SoldiersÂ' Home, the American Lake VeteransÂ' Hospital and the Army Community Service. For her distinguished efforts, she was awarded with the Emma Marie Baird Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service by the Army Chief of Staff for her demonstrated extraordinary dedication and sustained service to the Army in 1995. She earned an AA degree from Pierce College in Parks and Recreation Service and her passions included gardening, cooking, traveling, flowers, and her loving family.Olga is survived by her four children, Maureen Shuler, Tacoma; Anthony Caprara Jr. (Charisse), Eastern Washington; Michael Caprara, Lakewood; and David Caprara, South Hill. Her grandchildren include Maria Shuler, Deanna Shuler, Jeremy Shuler, Cassandra Buland, Hannah Caprara, and Jennifer Caprara.Viewing is from 9:00 AM Â- 9:00 PM, Sunday and Monday, Oct 9 Â- 10, 2005, at Mountain View Funeral Home. A funeral and graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, Oct 11, 2005, in the Mountain View Valley Chapel and Cemetery. Reception to follow at St. Francis CabriniÂ's reception hall in Lakewood.Our world has forever been blessed because of Olga Caprara. After committing her life to Christ, she is with her Lord Jesus. In her honor, donations may be made to the Franciscan Hospice Home in University Place, the Tacoma Rescue Mission, or the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle. Noni, we will miss you greatly.
