Ofelia Acosta Casebolt's Obituary
Ofelia Acosta Casebolt, of Lakewood, Washington, passed away peacefully in the morning of April 29th, 2018, surrounded by loved ones. Born on January 29th, 1929 in Corralejo Allende, Chihuahua, Mexico. At the age of 18, she immigrated to El Paso, TX, where she began her American Journey. In 1953, despite a seemingly insurmountable language barrier, she married her love, Raymond H. Casebolt, a soldier in the U.S. Army. In 1960, she along with her brother-in-law, Samuel Porchas, become an American citizen, one of the proudest moments of her life. In 1968, she began working at AAFES, where she forged lasting friendships with coworkers and customers alike, putting in 26 years there, retiring only to help take care of her beloved grandson, the apple of her eye. She will be fondly remembered for her sense of humor, her love of mariachis, and her grito.
She is survived by her loving daughter Patridcia Casebolt-Moshier (Christopher), grandson Trevor Moshier (Ramsay), her nieces Lourdes P. Rosencrans, and her nephew Manuel Porchas, along with numerous close family members.
A memorial service will be held at Mountain View Funeral Home in the Garden Chapel on Thursday, May 3rd, at 11:00 in the morning. Memorial donations may be made in Ofelia’s name to the Immigrant Defense Project, to assist future generations of immigrants achieve their American Dream.
