O.B. Smith's Obituary
Retired Army SFC, O.B.Smith born August 20, 1920 in Pittsburgh, Texas, to parents, Amos Sr. Smith and Ida Mae Smith, passed away May 29, 2003 at Tacoma General Hospital to join his beloved wife of 47 years, Ilse. O.B. served 24 years in the United States Army; Duty stations included Vietnam, Germany, Korea, North Africa and the United States. Through his service in the military, O.B. was a recipient of the Bronze Star, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. After retirement, O.B. worked at Western State Hospital for 15 years, retired again and became personal chauffer to his four grandchildren.O.B. is survived by his three daughters Nina P. Craft, Nancy R. Blackman, and Noreen S. Smith, grandchildren Nicollette Knight, DeJeune and Ilse Craft, and Jeremy Blackman, brothers Amos Jr. Smith and wife Jessie of Los Angeles, CA, Weldon Smith and wife Cora of Houston, TX, Roy L. Smith and wife Minnie of Long Beach, CA, and sister Fayrene Harkey of Tacoma, WA, numerous nieces and nephews and friends whose relationships have endured over 30 years.A viewing will take place on Tues. June 3, 2003 at Mt. View Funeral Home from 11am-9pm. Services will be held on Wed. June 4, 2003 at 2:00pm in the Mt. View Celebration of Life Building with a reception immediately following at the Golden Eagle Social Club, 5808 75th St. W., Lakewood, WA.
