Norman Sperry Tweed's Obituary
Norman S. Tweed, age 85, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 25, 2018. He was born August 1, 1932 in Kala Belgian Congo, Africa to missionary parents. Norman grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He attended Wheaton College in Chicago, IL from 1950 – 1952 and then served as an officer in the Air Force from 1953-1957. Norman received his Bachelors Degree in 1962 and Master of Arts in Zoology in 1965 from the University of Montana in Missoula, MT. Norman met his wife Shirley in Portland, OR while he was teaching biology at Warner Pacific College. They married March 19, 1971 and enjoyed 47 years together. He always lit up when she walked into the room. Norman and Shirley lived and raised their family in Lakewood, WA where he taught Biology and Nutrition at Pierce College (1970-1995). He loved to spend time with his family, fish, camp, golf, gold pan and tell corny jokes. Norman is survived by his wife, Shirley Tweed; son, Tom Tweed (Cindy), daughters, Jeanette Tweed and Suzanne Gardner (Mark) and three grandchildren, Ben, Peter and Emma. Norman was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Anna Tweed; brothers, Stanley Tweed and George Tweed. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 12 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Lakewood located at 5400 112th St SW, Lakewood, WA 98499.
