Norman Allan Hokenstad's Obituary
Norman Allan Hokenstad Our wonderful father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and dear friend to many, went to be with His Lord Jesus Christ on Wednesday morning, July 23rd, 2008. Norman was born at home in Snohomish, WA, on May 30, 1914. He had a happy childhood on the farm at Blackman Lake with his parents and siblings, Warren and Rhoda (Young). He attended Pacific Lutheran College and W.S.U. majoring in chemistry. He was employed by I.B.M. for 30 years as a customer engineer, and then sold real estate part-time. Ruth, Norman's wife of 63 years, passed away in 2001. Norm's last 17 years were spent at the Tacoma Lutheran Retirement Community where he had many special friends. Norm was the father of Al (Marion) Hokenstad, Christine (David) Weiseth, and Margit (Andy) Davis. Grandchildren include Jan (Ed) Stemple, Steve (Laura) Hokenstad, Peter (Shelley) Weiseth, Andrew (Amber) Weiseth, Susan Weiseth, Karen (Andy) Kwarciak, Todd (Christine) Richardt, and Robin, Amanda, and Nick (Anna) Davis. Norm had 12 great-grandchildren. The family thanks the staff and caregivers of the Tacoma Lutheran Care Center and Franciscan Hospice for their countless kindnesses to Norm. Memorial gifts may be made to the Tacoma Lutheran Retirement Community or St. Mark's Lutheran Church by the Narrows. A memorial service will be held in the Chapel at the Tacoma Lutheran Retirement Community, 1301 N. Highlands Pkwy, Monday, July 28, at 2:30 PM. Arrangements by Mountain View Funeral Home. 584-0252.
