Norma J. Cavanagh

Norma Jean Cavanagh was born March 11, 1929 in Tacoma, WA to John and Martha Johnson. She passed away peacefully in her University Place home, surrounded by her loving family, on October 5, 2008 after a lengthy battle with dementia and an intervening hip fracture.
Norma attended Tacoma Public Schools, graduating from Stadium High School in 1947. She moved to Seattle to be near her husband-to-be and love of her life W. Wallace Cavanagh, Jr. They married in 1952.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents, brother Charles Johnson and grandson Garrett Jerome Randall Cavanagh. She is survived by her husband, brother James Johnson of Portland OR, sons Wally (Kathy), Randy (Jamie), and Darin (Mary). She leaves a legacy of grandchildren: Kyla Cavanagh, Courtnay Cavanagh, Charlene Brown, Scott Cavanagh, Colin Cavanagh, and great-grandaughter Jauclynn Chappell-Brown. Norma was a member of the Kate Gunderson Orthapedic Guild, the Tacoma-Pierce County Junior League, the Tacoma- Pierce County Lawyers Wives, Fircrest Golf Club, and Highlands Golf Club. Viewing will be at Mountain View Funeral Home on Friday, October 10, 2008 from 11:00 AM to 9 PM. There will be a private family burial. Norma will be remembered and celebrated in her life at her memorial service on Saturday, October 11, 2008 at 1:00 PM at Immanual Presbyterian Church, 901 N. J St., Tacoma WA, where she and Wally were members. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Immanual Presbyterian Church or a charity of choice.
