Nina Boone Tucker-Gibbons' Obituary
NINA W. TUCKER-GIBBONS
Nina W. Tucker-Gibbons passed away peacefully the evening of September 24, 2009. A native of Puyallup she was the third of five children born to Eva and Boone Willmott. She married Valjean Tucker in 1942 and moved with him and their children to California in 1949 where they lived for fourteen years. After her husband's death in 1963, she returned to Puyallup where she entered into her mother's real estate business, eventually becoming owner/broker of Willmott Real Estate. For over forty years she was an active community member via her real estate business, Toastmasters, Bethany Baptist Church, Puyallup High School Alumni Association as well as many other organizations. She was a faithful contributor to many charities and missions/missionaries. During her years at Bethany she was a member of the Bell Choir, Sunday School Teacher, and Choir Member and enjoyed numerous outings with her Sunday School classes. She remarried in 1989 and moved her residence to South Hill. In November of 2007 Nina moved to Merrill Gardens where she enjoyed a very active social life. She attended the Resident's Board meetings and became the "Sunshine Girl" enabling her to keep tabs on all the residents. She was a member of the Wii Bowling team and led the Yoga classes when the Activities Director was not available. Nina also enjoyed several Argosy Cruises and Mystery Rides while a resident there. Nina was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Ora Gibbons, her husbands Valjean Tucker and Charles Gibbons, her brothers Frank, Carl and Boone Willmott, a step-son Dean Gibbons, and one great, great grandchild, Sophie Smith. Survivors include 4 children and 2 stepchildren: Joy Laird and husband Larry of Lakeside, AZ; Jill Wiinikka and Curt Fridell of Snohomish, WA; Nina Bell currently staying with Jill; Rodney Tucker and wife Tawnya of Graham, WA; Linda Houser of West Hartford, CT; and Carol Krause of Concord, MA. She also left behind 18 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 6 great, great grandchildren as well as numerous step-grandchildren and foster- grandchildren. Through her church she was also a surrogate grandmother to many families. All are welcome to attend a Memorial service on November 14, 2009, at 1:00 PM at Bethany Baptist Church, 713 S.
