Nileava Nive Eary's Obituary
With hearts full of sorrow yet filled with deep gratitude, we gather to honor the life of our beloved Nileava Nive Pelesasa Eary (Nive) who was called home, July 10, 2025, with her family by her side in Auburn, WA.
Nive was born on February 26, 1972 in Sato’alepai, Savai’i, to Iosefo Pelesasa and
Aiganunununu Maluia and was raised her whole life in Nu’uuli, American Samoa. As a young girl, she started her education at Manulele Elementary. She then graduated from
Samoana High School and later earned her Associate’s Degree in Education from American Samoa Community College. In pursuing her career, she attained a Bachelor and Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Hawai’i at Manoa. Nive was a woman of quiet strength, endless compassion, and joyful spirit. She dedicated over 25
years to teaching. In her classroom, she nurtured not only young minds, but hearts — guiding each student with care, patience, and wisdom. Teaching was her gift, and she gave it fully. Outside of the classroom, Nive’s light shone even brighter. She loved singing karaoke, sharing laughter and enjoying music with her family and closest friends. Her happiest moments were spent in their company — celebrating life, enjoying her favorite Vailima or Modelo, shots of Teremana, and simply being present with those she loved most. She was the heart of her family — steady, kind, and faithful.
Her love and guidance shaped generations, and her legacy lives on in each of them. Nive is deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her husband of 32 years, Falesavili Edward Charles Eary, and her five beloved children: Pu’auea Marie Eary Vou (Lama Vou)
Children: Calita Jewel, Lamuel, Janael Falesavili, Lama Jr., Liam
Edward Charles Eary Jr. (Otille Tuailemafua Eary)
Children: Elleina Amanda Nileava, Kendrick Charles Tinamarie Maberda Eary Meredith (Joseph Manutafea Meredith)
Children: Ezekiel Amor Benedict, Julia Fa’asilitama’ita’i
Angeline Falesavili Eary

She was not only a mother and grandmother, but a confidant, encourager, and example of faith. Her presence brought comfort, and her absence is deeply felt. Though she is no longer with us in body, her love surrounds us still — and always will.
