Nealia Lenell "Cherry" Pegee's Obituary
Nealia Lenell “Cherry” Pegee began her life journey August 15, 1927, she was one of five children born to the late Ernest & Idonia Douglas in Hope, Arkansas.
She married John C. Pegee of Hope, Arkansas on May 19, 1946. They relocated to Fort Lewis, Washington in the military. She spent 22 years as a military wife. She had a career in Civil Service working at the Quarter Master Laundry at Fort Lewis then later retired from Nutrition Services at Madigan Army Medical Center.
She was a longtime member of St. John Baptist Church under Dr. J.A. Boles, Pastor, where she was a very active member of St. John Mission Choir and Senior Choir and the Mother’s Board. She loved to garden and raised beautiful flowers.
Her legacy of love and memories will be cherished by her children, son John A. Pegee (Susan); daughters Beverly J. Miller, Aleicia A. McMichael (Cecilio), Kimberly R. Samuel (William), and Debra Pegee Edwards; grandchildren: Clifton M. Pegee, Anthony I. Miller, Kenya L. Miller, India A. McMichael, Vanessa M. Kitt, Jordan S. Pegee, Jalena M. Samuel, twins Marcus and Nathan Samuel, Darche Samuel, Jordan A. Samuel, and Denzel J. Samuel; great-grandchildren Jalea M. Robinson and Sarai A. Baird.
Nealia’s legacy of love and memories will also be cherished by her sister Eula Marie Douglas of Brooklyn, New York.
Other family members she loved and cherished are Sherman and Judy McMichael, Cousin Shirley Wilson, Charlotte Kelley (who she also called daughter) and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Although we will miss her greatly, we will forever celebrate her life and be enriched by the seeds that she has sown into our lives.
A Funeral Service celebrating the life of Cherry will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, January 19, 2018 in the Valley Chapel with interment to follow. Repast will be held in the Oak Room at Mountain View Funeral Home & Memorial Park, Lakewood.
