Naomi Brownfield's Obituary
The Story of a Life Well Lived...
The world would never be the same, as a new day dawn in the small town of Bastrop, Louisiana on December 19, 1927.
A beautiful and rather feisty bundle of joy found her way into this world and our lives.
Naomi Chambers was the first born of six children to Laura Hamlin/Corgile and Amos Chambers Sr.
Naomi spent her entire childhood in Bastrop. She met, fell in love and on September 17, 1955 she married this tall dark and handsome gentleman name William Charles Brownfield AKA (Dub). They ventured beyond the border of Louisiana to destinations such as Hawaii ,Germany , and Kansas and then finally to Fort Lewis, Washington where they resided until retirement.
Naomi worked various civil service jobs. After retirement Naomi enjoyed gardening, traveling, hosting parties for family and friends, creating fond memories with her children, grands, and great grands.
For anyone who knew Naomi would agree that she cherish photos and she could be quoted as saying, “All I want for Christmas and my birthday is pictures of you and you and you.” And by the way my birthday is December 19, 1927. And don’t you forget it.””
Naomi was one who enjoyed life and people. When she embraced you as a friend, you knew that you had a friend for life.
So at age 93 in the final chapter of her life, on Thursday, April 29, 2021 around 6:38 a.m. as the sun began to set on Lakewood, Naomi answered the call and departed this world leaving behind all pain and suffering to rest peaceful in the arms of Jesus and to be reunited with loved ones who preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband of 66 years, William Brownfield; two brothers: Amos Chambers Jr. and James Campbell; six children, Lonell Smith (Marion), Ray Smith (Ruth), Laura Royster (James), Brenda Harris (Andrew), Anne Hodges (Robert) and Sheryl Brownfield; eighteen grandchildren; countless great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends who were like family.
Though sadly we will miss her. We shall meet again!
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. II Timothy 4:7-8
