Nancy Susan Price Kirby's Obituary
Nancy Susan Kirby, age 66 , passed away January 28, 2022 at Alaska Gardens Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Nancy was born to Bob and Gladys Price on March 9th, 1955 in Tacoma,WA. She grew up in Manitou and graduated from Mount Tahoma High School, class of 1973. She attended WSU , and in 1975 she married Steve Kirby. They had two wonderful sons, Brian and Cameron, and four grandchildren.
Nancy enjoyed working on many Democratic campaigns, including Steve’s first race for Tacoma City Council in 1977. Her first taste of politics, was in High School when Teacher Joe Stortini sponsored her as a Page, in the Sate Legislature. She truly developed a love and passion for Politics early on in her life.
She worked as a Legislative Assistant for Wendell Brown , and was also a Tour Guide for the Capital in Olympia. She later worked for Pioneer Business Forms for many years after the birth of her first son Brian. Nancy loved entertaining in her home, whether for family or friends. She was very social, outgoing and involved in fundraising, and labor intensive events to see many friends go on to win their positions.
Nancy loved life , her boys, her friends and family, and then she developed symptoms of Huntington’s Disease which she struggled gracefully with until her death.
Nancy is survived by her sons Brian Kirby (Bianca), and Cameron Kirby (Ashley). Her four precious grandchildren, Stella and Blake Kirby and Patrick and Maddox Kirby. Her sister Janice Wagenblast and brother Douglas Price( Linda), her niece Janell Martin (Kaj) and her family Phoebe,Asha, and Luke Martin, nephews Jimmy Wagenblast and Ryan Price(Ginger) Kale Price and Jason Price, Aunt Betty Small and Aunt Dianne Devoe (Dave), and many cousins .
We want to express our sincere thanks to all staff at Alaska Gardens who loved and cared for our Nancy the last 11 years.
Memorial Services will be held Friday, February 25th, at 2 pm at Aspen Chapel, Mountain View Funeral Home , with Reception following.
