Nancy Dickson
Nancy Louise Novak Dickson, born September 14 , 1937 in Columbus, Ohio, peacefully passed away on November 23, 2009 in Tacoma, Washington. She fought cancer for two years. Her family was at her side when her suffering ended. Nancy's parents, Theodore William Novak, M.D. and Pauline Cooper, R.N., preceded her. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Carroll Dickson: daughters Carole Lynne and Marsha Kay; sons John Mark, Matthew William, Christopher Robert and Donald Mitchell; granddaughter Annabelle Louise and sister Suzanne Novak May. Nancy attended Hardin Simmons University and Mary Hardin Baylor University. She was an Army wife who made homes in far flung places, raising children, supporting Army families and being part of the communities where she lived. She led by example. She never hesitated to help those in need and was always ready to participate as a worker or leader of any organization, including Scouts, PTA, Red Cross, the Officers Wives Club and DAR. Always active, she loved skiing at Crystal Mountain and golfing at Fort Lewis, where she once hit a hole in one. She was also a prize winning quilter. She is at rest in the Tahoma National Cemetery. Nancy proudly served as a board member of the Madigan Foundation. Some may wish to make a donation in her name to the Madigan Foundation, P.O. Box 97215, Lakewood, WA, 98497
