Nancy Knutson's Obituary
Nancy Ann (Willis) Knutson At age 80, Nancy passed away June 28, 2015, after 18-months fighting liver cancer. Born and raised in Tacoma, a graduate of Sequim High School, and longtime resident of Puyallup, she retired from Pierce County Community Services as a special needs driver and teachers assistant. Nancy was born June 21, 1935, in Tacoma to Aldus Floyd Willis and Lucy Amanda (McDonald) Willis. She had one brother John (Jack) Aldus Willis. Nancy was married in Tacoma’s Emmanuel Lutheran Church on November 16, 1957, to her beloved husband of 42 years Marvin Ray Knutson.
Nancy was an avid reader of novels and histories of the British Isles, and especially loved cooking and baking. She traveled frequently on the “purple bus” in the area with her friends and also made many trips back east to visit family and to tour. Nancy had many close friends over her long life and sincerely loved her high school reunions with the Sequim Class of 1954.
Nancy is survived by her children: Sydne Tullar (children: Joshua (daughter Tyanna), Hannah, Jesse, and Sarah) of Puyallup; Lieutenant Commander & Mrs. Kevin Knutson (wife Jeannie & children: Collan (wife Marisha), Candace, and Carina) of Puyallup; and, Timothy Knutson (partner Debbie) of Tacoma. Nancy is also survived by her brother Jack’s children: Darlene, Debbie, and Doug; and, by her husband’s sister Mary Ann (Knutson) Erickson and her children: Jeff, Craig, Curtis, and Kristen.
A memorial service & reception will be held at Mountain View cemetery in Tacoma July 18, 3:00pm, the Aspen Chapel. In lieu of flowers, mom wished any offerings go to the American Cancer Society.
