Nana Pearl Crawford Watkins, age 79, passed away on September 21, 2011, after a long illness. She was born August 18, 1932 in Philadelphia, PA the second to youngest of 9 children to Lovelace & Amanda Bell Crawford. After the passing of her parents, she & her siblings were raised by their Grandmother, Gussie Crawford who made it her mission to keep all of them together through that tough time. Nana met & married Robert Jackson who was stationed at Fort Lewis in 1965. He adopted her daughter, Vicki & they produced a daughter, Dawn. She acquired employment at the Fort where she met many members of Bethlehem Baptist who encouraged her to join. She later married Willie Watkins and they produced a daughter, Ateten. The family relocated to Reno, NV and then to Salem, OR where Nana worked for the State of Oregon in different branches such with the Deaf, Blind and Juvenile offenders for over 10 years before retiring to Washington State to be closer to her grandchildren.
She loved to travel and being near the ocean, she lived her life to the fullest and loved the Lord & her family more than life itself. She was dedicated member of Bethlehem Baptist Church for over 50 years where she participated in the Senior, Women's & Gospel Choir; Willing Workers & Ruth Circle and taught Children's church before her health began to decline.
Nana leaves to mourn her memory daughters Dawn D. Patterson and Ateten Watkins. 3 Granddaughters Alicisia Jackson, Sophia A. Mckinney and Ebone' Patterson. Great grandchildren Gemishia Jackson, Yonaia Robinson, Mazzar Robinson & Zamaree Postell and Great great grandchild Jordan Jackson. Nana is preceded in death by her oldest daughter Vicki Ruth Lacy on December 11, 2010, one niece, four brothers and two sisters.
