Muta Oliver's Obituary
Muta Oliver died April 16, 2006 at the age of 95. Muta was born in Mandan, ND on March 8, 1911; she had lived in Tacoma since 1940 where she met her future husband, Joe Oliver, while working at Washington Handle. In September 1944, she and Joe were married and they spent 59 years together.In the 1930Â's, Muta was employed by I. Magnin Department Store in Seattle as a seamstress and continued her love of sewing throughout her life. She also enjoyed working with flowers in her garden and loved when the songbirds would visit her bird feeders. Muta had a special gift of playing the organ. She especially cherished the time spent with her husband and family at their mountain cabin. She was a long time member of the Lincoln Park Christian Church.Preceding Muta in death was her husband, Joe, her mother, Mercy DeLong, her sisters, Irene and Bernice, and her brothers James and Johnny.She is survived by her two daughters: Joanne Nugent and Joy Myer, both of Tacoma; nine grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren.The family would like to thank the Lakewood Healthcare Center and Hospice for their loving care.A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 22, 2006 in the Mountain View Garden Chapel.
