Morris Lee Northcutt, Sr

Morris Lee Northcutt, Sr. was born in Alton, Illinois on November 8, 1950 to Marvin and Alice Northcutt. He was the third of six children in the Northcutt family. Morris’s formative years were spent in Alton until the family moved to Tacoma, Washington in 1963 to be near Morris’s older brother, Marvin E. Northcutt Sr. who was stationed at Ft. Lewis.
Morris helped his family earn a living by delivering newspapers, cleaning homes, cutting grass, and washing dishes at Lakewood General Hospital until he dropped out of school to enter the army at the age of 16. While in the army, Morris earned his GED which was recently acknowledged with the presentation of his diploma from Clover Park High School. Morris was proud to serve his country and was stationed in Seoul, Korea. It was there that Morris met the love of his life, Kwang. They were married at the American Embassy November 13, 1970 and returned to make Lakewood their home after Morris was discharged from the Army. Morris & Kwang raised two sons, Lee Northcutt and Morris Northcutt, Jr.
Morris began his working life as a janitor for Lakewood General Hospital. He later owned his own drywall company until he purchased the Madigan Motel, which he operated for over 30 years. Morris was a member of the Lakewood Hotel Motel Association and active volunteer for the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee of Lakewood.
Morris was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Alice Northcutt, his brother Marvin Northcutt, Jr, and sister Jerrianne. He is survived by his wife Kwang of 43 years, sons Lee Northcutt (Kali), Morris Northcutt Jr. (Lavonne), brothers Martin Northcutt, Mark Northcutt and sister Sharon Grillo. Morris also leaves behind his greatest joys, his grandchildren, Spencer & Tanner (twins), Vivienne & Warren (twins), and Nina Northcutt.
