Morris Gills' Obituary
Morris Gills, 60, was born on June 13, 1964, in Forrest City, AR and was the eighth child of James Walter Gills Sr and Girtha Lee (Smith} Gills. Morris departed this earth to be with his Lord and Savior on July 24, 2024 in Brinnon, WA.
In Morris youth, his family moved from Forrest City, Arkansas to South Bend, Indiana to be closer to his father's relatives. Morris received his education in South Bend and graduated from Adams High School in 1983. Morris received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior while attending Believers Church of God in Christ with his family.
In 1987, Morris moved from South Bend to Tacoma, WA with his parents and half of his
siblings to be near his mother's relatives. There he held various jobs, including serving as a housekeeper for Marriot Hotel.
Morris never strayed far from family, as he loved them and they him. He was a lover of food, music, dancing, walking, and enjoying all of God's artistry in nature.
Morris leaves to cherish his memory Three brothers: Herbert McClendon from Tacoma WA, Lennie Parnell (Mary} Gills, Aaron (Evelyn) Gills Sr from South Bend IN, Three Sisters. Darlene Cannady, Velma Jean Gills from Tacoma Washington, and Alice Colette Gills from Portland, OR. Six nephews: Orlando Leroy Mitchell, Carlos (Teresa) Coleman Sr., Aaron Anthony Gills Jr. Adrian Allen (Daschane) Gills, Samuel Parnell Gills from South Bend IN and Tony Harvell Canady from Brooklyn NY, Four Nieces Tiffany Gills, Faith Gills from South Bend IN, Teresa Michelle Cannady from Tacoma WA and Shanita Gills from Portland OR: along with many cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Preceding him in death are his parents James and Girtha Gills; one brother, James Walter Gills Jr, one sister: Edna Mae Coleman; One Nephew Syndica Thomas along with many aunts and uncles.
2 Corinthians 5:8 we are confident and willing to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. Morris has entered eternal rest with the Lord, and we look forward to seeing him again.
