Monica Michelson's Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Monica (Marge) Alice Michelson, who left us on September 7, 2025 at the age of 100. She passed away peacefully at Heron’s Key Assisted Living surrounded by her family after a brief illness.
Monica was born on October 9, 1924 in Devil’s Lake, North Dakota, one of fourteen children of Catherine and Benedict Deibert. She was the last surviving sibling of the family.
After relocating to Puget Sound, she attended Aquinas High School before beginning her career as a food service worker for the Tacoma School District, and later, Tacoma Community College. She was well known to a generation of students who appreciated her friendly manner, welcoming smile and kindness.
Monica is survived by four children; Larry (Sharon) Michelson, Don (Mary) Michelson, Diane Cvitanich (Dick) and Rick Michelson. She was very proud of her ten grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her longtime companion, Victor Veith, grandson Casey Michelson and great grandson, Issac Michelson.
Those who knew Monica will remember her for the many crochet projects she completed and shared, her enthusiastic search for antiques, passion for reading a good book, and love for her dogs. She was interested in many activities, but none delighted her more than hearing stories of her children and grandchildren.
A celebration of Monica Alice Michelson’s life will be held on October 10, at 11:00 AM in the “Celebration of Life” room at Mountain View Funeral Home. Our family would like to thank the Franciscan Hospice team and the Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing staff at Heron’s Key for their generous support.
