Monica Harris' Obituary
Monica Harris made her unexpected transition from her earthly dwelling to her heavenly home, on September 1, 2005. Monica was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William (Bill) Harris, her parents Emma and Edward Kuich and brothers; Arthur and Thomas Kuich. She is survived by her son, William M. Harris (Janet), her three daughters, Kathleen Crowley (Mike), Cynthia Minnitti and Debra Jacobson (Dave) as well as grandchildren: Michael Crowley, Alisa Keolker, Matthew Maitland, Monica Hansen, Rachel Minnitti and Joseph Minnitti, along with seven great grandchildren. Monica was born in Tacoma on November 22, 1926. She attended Visitation School and Aquinas Academy. Through the years, she kept in touch with many of her classmates, especially her dear friend, Norma Steichen, who passed away in 2003. In her youth, Monica was very athletic and had a love for writing. She dreamed of going to New York to pursue a career in that field, but instead chose the path of dedication to her family. She held positions at JC PennyÂ's, the postal station at Oysters Drug Store and finally, the Sheet Metal Workers Union until her retirement. During World War II, Monica married William Harris on January 16, 1945 and enjoyed a wonderful marriage of forty-six years until his death on March 1, 1991. Monica ached for her departed husband and looked forward to reuniting with him. No one could ever ask for a better wife, mother, grandmother and mother-in-law. Her kind heart, sharp wit, intuitiveness, interest in politics and current events and her warm sense of humor provided a magnetic presence for all who knew her. For those of us left behind, her departure has left a hole in our hearts. She left this life just as she wanted; at home, quickly and peacefully. She is with Dad now.Mother, grandmother and mother-in-law, we will miss our frequent visits and talks. We will miss your heart and love, no matter what the circumstances; you were always there for us. We find comfort knowing that in the unseen you are still present and in our hearts; the hole is now filled with your spirit. Memorial services will be held Thursday, September 8, 2005, at 11:00 am in the Garden Chapel at Mountain View Memorial Park. Viewing will be September 5, 6, & 7; 9 am Â-9 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The American Red Cross for disaster relief of Hurricane Katrina. Mom would like that.
