Mildred "Betty" Elizabeth Driver 's Obituary
Mildred (Betty) Driver, age 95, slipped into eternal rest November 16, 2018. She was born in Curlew, WA and grew up nearby on the family ranch in Republic, WA. Her family moved to Tukwila, WA for her father's health when she was 16, where she attended and graduated from Foster High School.
Betty settled with her own family in Puyallup, WA in 1961 upon her husband's retirement from his 20yr Navy career. She lived in Puyallup for 50 years until moving to Sunset Adult Family Home in Bellevue in 2011. She was a member of the Puyallup United Methodist Church for 50yrs in Puyallup and a proud member of Clan Farquharson, in honor of her Scottish heritage.
Betty had a strong work ethic, retiring from Reliance Insurance Co. at age 70. But her family was always the center of her life. She was devoted to her children and grandchildren, and maintained strong ties with her sisters and their families.
Betty is preceded in death by her son, David (Dean) Driver in 2002, and her sisters, Eleanor Yardy in 2009 and Stella Hodgin in 2018. Survivors include daughters Martha McCormack (husband, Alan) and Dorothy Hutchinson (husband, Allen), 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Her family wishes to thank John and Nadia Craia and staff at Sunset Adult Family Home for the exceptional love and care she received from them these last seven years.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Alzheimer’s/Dementia Prevention organization of your choice or the Puyallup United Methodist Church.
