Mildred Davis' Obituary
Mother Mildred Davis
Mother Mildred Davis of Tacoma, WA was born September 23, 1936 in Pope, Mississippi and received her wings on July 30, 2017. Mother Davis was the second of twelve children born to David and Rosie Doyle. Mother Davis’ love for her family and their well-being led her, at the young age of fourteen, to move to Memphis, TN with her aunt where she began working and sending money home to help support her siblings. Mother Davis married in 1958 and, with the support of her former husband (Superintendent Alfred C. Davis Sr.); she relocated her parents and 10 siblings to Washington State while the eldest, Alice Osborn, stayed in Mississippi.
Mother Davis was a loving mother who trained up two sons, Pastor Alfred Davis Jr. and F. Jerome Davis, along with a God given daughter, Felicia Collins. Missionary Davis was also a primary care giver to several of her nieces, a nephew and grandson. Mother Davis loved the Lord and faithfully served God and her church (Not By Might Ministries). She was an anointed servant and licensed Evangelist/Missionary by the WA State Jurisdiction of the Churches of God In Christ under the leadership of the late Bishop TL Westbrook and State Mother Gertrude Young. Mother Davis was an early childhood educator and retired after 31 years of service in Tacoma Public Schools.
Mother Davis enjoyed sewing, going for walks, taking trips out of town and she loved to relax and take photographs. Mother Davis’ greatest joy was watching her children, grandchildren, and extended family grow up. She often reminded her children not to spend their money on everything they see and to slow down, you are driving too fast!
Mother Davis was preceded in death by her siblings: Josephine Smith, AnnieMae Clay, Corelee Walls, David Doyle, Avery Doyle, William Doyle and her daughter: Regina Davis.
