Michiko Saito's Obituary
Michiko Saito, age 89, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2026 in Tacoma, Washington.
She was born on January 5, 1937 in Tokyo, Japan and later made her home in the United States, ultimately in Tacoma. She was preceded in death by her husband and lived as a devoted widow for many years. She was also preceded in death by her three brothers and two sisters. She had no children of her own.
Michiko is survived by her extended family, including a nephew in California, 8 nieces and 6 nephews in Hawaii, and two nieces and two nephews in Japan. Though her immediate family was small, she was deeply valued by those who knew her and remembered for her quiet strength, resilience, and generosity.
She enjoyed socializing in the Japanese/Hawaiian community, teaching origami, and cooking Japanese dishes. She was known for her generosity to guests and visitors by providing delicious snacks and treats.
Private services will be held in accordance with family wishes. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that remembrance be made through quiet reflection or acts of kindness in her memory.
