Michael W. "Tomegun" Thompson's Obituary
Michael W. "Tomegun" Thompson was born on February 6, 1942 in Tacoma, WA to Frank and Margaret Thompson, and graduated from Wilson High School. He passed away on June 30, 2022 following a long battle with Alzheimer's in Olympia, WA.
Mike devoted 26 years to the Tacoma Police Department, enjoying all aspects of the force from motorcycle, patrol, detective to sergeant. He helped with the creation of Harvey the Talking Motorcycle to educate students in the Tacoma School District. He also served in the National Guard Reserve and was honorably discharged after 6 years of service.
He was a competitive athlete, playing football, baseball, softball, golf, water and snow skiing. Overall, Mike enjoyed staying active, laughing, being with friends and family, and maintaining his property with his wife and their many animals.
Mike loved and is survived by his wife of 31 years, Kim; adored his children, Scott Thompson, Deanna Stewart and Scott Delony; and was proud of his grandchildren, Ashley, Tailynn, Wiley, Bella, Emily and Willow. He is also survived by his loving sister, Wendy Salazar and niece Lucy. Mike was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Kelli Davis.
