Michael Dennis Pietzke's Obituary
Michael Dennis Pietzke passed away July 2, 2018 in Tacoma, Washington. He was born August 24, 1946 in Honolulu, Hawaii to Aaron and Etheldine Pietzke. He had an older half-brother, Clayton and was the oldest of three full siblings, David, Robert and Elizabeth. He grew up in Tacoma, Washington and enrolled in the US Army the day after he graduated from high school. Michael served in Viet Nam. While in Viet Nam he typed special orders for high security – including some to the president of the United States. He started a bowling group for recreation and quickly gained popularity with the officers. He spent 4 years in the Army.
When he arrived home, he worked at Value Mart. He met his first wife Gail Robinson through a mutual friend. They were married in March 1971. In 1973 Michael began working for the US Post Office as a mail sorter and teller. He enjoyed bowling, basketball, handball, co-ed softball. They had three children Betty, Michael and Jennifer. As a family they enjoyed camping and traveling to the coast, the Redwood Forest and various destinations.
After the divorce from Gail, Michael married Sylvia Anderson in January 1988. They had three children Kathryne, Lena-Marie, and Charles. Their family traveled to Colorado, Arizona and California on a memorable vacation. He continued to work for the post office where his customers enjoyed his sense of humor. No comments could be made about Mike without mentioning his love for the Seattle Seahawks and Mariners.
He is survived by his former wife, Gail and their three children. Betty Adams (Thomas), Michael Warren Pietzke (Elizabeth), and Jennifer Suire (Alan). Grandfather to Thomas Adams Jr. (Julianna), MacKenzie Adams, Zachary Adams, Bria Pietzke, Annika Pietzke, Abby Pietzke, Imajin Pietzke, William Suire, and Wesley Suire. He had one great-granddaughter, Ryli Adams.
He is survived by Sylvia and their three children Kathryne Smith (Curtis), Lena-Marie, and Charles. Grandfather to Charlotte Smith and Elizabeth Smith.
A celebration of life to remember Michael will be held 3:30 p.m., Sunday August 26, 2018 at DeCoursey Park. 2101 7th Avenue Southwest, Puyallup, WA 98371. He will be laid to rest on Monday August 27, 2018, 11:00 a.m. at Tahoma National Cemetery.
