Al Cox
Mike was a regular visitor to our supplier facility as an auditor. Over the years, we got to know each other very well. We would always go for dinner after the audit and share stories. Mike's favourite dish was Muscovy Duck.
Mike was a wealth of knowledge and - I have to say - that I learned more from Mike about Quality than from anywhere else in my 35-year career. Career-wise, I am very much who I am today thanks to Mike.
One of the most flattering events that ever happened to me was when Mike arranged for me to speak at a Quality conference in Orlando back in 2014. Little ol' me ended up on the panel with some individuals that were highly recognized in the industry. I couldn't believe that Mike thought enough of me to coordinate this.
On another occasion, my wife mentioned to me that she wanted a model of a 747 - my Dad used to fly these for TWA many years ago. Sure enough, Mike put me in touch with the company store and - voila - we have a lovely model of a 747 sitting on my desk at home.
Mike, I'm very saddened to hear of your passing and - wherever you are - please know that, career-wise, I am the person who I am today largely because of you.
Rest in Peace, my friend.
