Michael O Halliday's Obituary
Michael O. Halliday passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at his home in Federal Way, Washington at the age of 85. Mike was born February 5, 1939, in Fort Lewis, Washington to Eugene and Eileen Halliday. He graduated from Clover Park High School and attended Saint Martin's College in Lacey, Washington. Mike served as a reservist in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1957 to 1980. For over 20 years Mike was the smiling face behind the counter at the Walt's Radiator and Muffler shops in Lacey and Olympia. He married his late wife, Jan, in 1979. Together they traveled over 100,000 miles on a Harley Davidson, raced cars in autocross, pro rally off road and dedicated themselves to the Saint Martins community. Mike played a large role in running the Capital Food & Wine Festival every year as well as the Alumni Concession Trailer at the annual Capital Lakefair event. He is preceded in death by his wife Jan Halliday (2007). He is survived by his brothers, Patrick O. Halliday (Margie) and Terrence O. Halliday (Phyllis); his son, Kevin Halliday (Helen), his daughter, Kari Halliday (Mike), his stepdaughters, Jennifer Monaco (Gabe and Grace) and Stephanie McGinty (Adam), grandchildren Devon Stafford, Alysse McGinty and Sean McGinty. A celebration of life is pending.
