Michael Earl Dawley's Obituary
Michael Earl Dawley was born on July 27, 1947 in Seattle WA. He passed away on July 25, 2017 two days shy of his 70th birthday in Tacoma WA. He battled Glioblastoma for 21 months and was determined to beat the disease that takes most people within a year.
He was positive throughout and was an inspiration to many during this time. Mike was the youngest of his six siblings and is survived by his children, grandchildren, great grandchild, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.
Mike was very proud of all and cherished his relationships. He loved to work out and was in the gym until the last few months of his life. He competed in bodybuilding contests in the 1980's and 1990's and won 3rd place in the Masters Division in 1992 at the Emerald Cup. He also loved golfing.
Mike was an avid Huskies fan. He attended as many games as he could and loved attending the games with his family. He loved all sports. Mike was a Combat Medic in Vietnam from 1967 to 1969. He was Honorably Discharged in 1973 and received the Purple Heart Award.
Mike worked for United Airlines since 1987 as a Lead Ramp Agent and prior to that worked at Duwamish Shipyard.
Mike will be laid to rest at the Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 SE 240th St. Kent WA 98042 on Tuesday August 8, 2017 at 11:30/AM. A Celebration of Life will be held on August 27, 2017. Location and timing to follow.
