Merry Anne Harrison's Obituary
Mrs. Merry Anne Harrison, daughter of Lloyd Earl Hetrick and Thelma June Hetrick Stinson of Warren, Ohio, and the beloved wife of Ronald H. Harrison of McKenna, Washington, was called home to the loving arms of her Lord and Savior at 71 years of age after a long illness.
She is survived by her husband, Ron; two brothers, Mr. John Hetrick of Ocala, Florida, and Mr. Jack Stinson of Columbus, Ohio; two sisters, Mrs. Jill Stewart of New Concord, Ohio, and Mrs. Elizabeth Breakey of Raleigh North Carolina.
Merry Anne was a graduate of Ohio State University and the University of Alaska with degrees in anatomy and art. Merry Anne and Ron, her husband of 43 years, were married in the chapel at Fort DeRussy, Hawaii. After their marriage, she accompanied Ron on many assignments throughout his military career.
Along the way, she operated her own pottery business and taught art classes, among them weaving, pottery and batik. Her weaving and pottery creations won numerous prizes at local and state level exhibits.
Following the surgical removal of a brain tumor in 1996 and subsequent declining health during the intervening years, she was diagnosed with advanced Alzheimer’s earlier this year, and passed away quietly on Oct. 22, 2014, with her devoted caregivers at her side. The families will be forever grateful to Merry Anne’s doctors, nurses, and all concerned who expertly and lovingly cared for her during her long illness, and to the hospice caregivers who did everything possible for her comfort at the end.
Her ashes will be interred in the Memorial Wall at Tahoma National Cemetery. Arrangements will be made for a future celebration of her life for friends and family. Please make donations to The Alzheimer’s Foundation in lieu of flowers.
