Merriman (Bud) E.'s Obituary
Bud Harlow of La Costa, California, passed away Sunday evening December 26, after a rapid battle with a very aggressive form of cancer. Bud was born in Seattle, a longtime resident of Tacoma, and then retired in San Diego with his beloved wife of 47 years, Shirley.Bud served in the United States Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean War. His career was mainly spent in the shipbuilding industry as Yard Manager for Tacoma Boat Building Company and General Manager for Bay City Marine Shipyards of Tacoma and San Diego. He was also an inspector on the Alaska Pipeline.Bud was an honorable member of the Machinists, Teamsters, and Boilermakers unions along with longtime membership with the Eagles and Elks of Tacoma.His retirement was spent caring for his town home complex which he dearly loved in La Costa, CA. His tenants were very special to him, he took pleasure in seeing that all their needs were met. He was known for winning the hearts of all he touched.He enjoyed traveling with his family and friends. Always telling his three children to watch out for Mom!!He is survived by his devoted wife, Shirley Harlow. He will be missed by his children; Mark Harlow of Lacey, Charmaine Williams (Chad) of Gig Harbor, Rochelle Salas (Marco) of Gig Harbor. Along with his grandchildren Molly Ochs, Zachary Harlow, Cody and Carly Williams, Corbin and Aubrey Salas, and two great granddaughters Sophia Ochs and Lillian Harlow.His grandchildren were very dear to him. They all loved to visit California to spend quality time and Grandpa and Grandma.He is also survived by four sisters, Marri Paynter of Redwood City, Mickey Kraut of Seattle, Joy Rametes of Medford, and Gay Farvour of Tacoma.He was preceded in death by his brother, Grover Harlow, and sister, Patti Jean Harlow.Funeral Services will be Tuesday the 4th of January, 2005, at 12:00 Noon in the Celebration of Life Center at Mountain View Funeral Home, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd SW, Tacoma, Washington. Visitation will be from 3 PM Â- 9 PM, Monday, January 3, 2005.
