Merlyn Koester's Obituary
Merlyn Koester passed away peacefully Sept. 24. She was born to Bill and Gemma Mercer November 25, 1930 in Prosser, WA where she grew up. She had fond memories of living in sheep camps during the summer months and enjoying her many cousins in Prosser during the school year. She attended Central Washington College where she met Robert Koester of Ellensburg. They were married December 8, 1951 at the United Methodist Church in Prosser. They moved to Seattle, then to University Place, where they raised their three children Shann, Michael and Terri. Merlyn worked at Curtis Jr. High and later at Tacoma Community College. She was active in P.E.O. as well as her beloved Fircrest aerobics class that she was a part of for 15 years. She enjoyed skiing and traveling with Antlers Aweigh.
Merlyn is survived by her dear husband of 63 years Bob Koester, her children Shann (John), Michael (Lea), and Terri (Jeff), grandchildren Meghan (Boe), Tim (Erica), Eric, Katie, Logan, Evan and great-grandchildren Henry and Benjamin.
A special thanks to the staff at Weatherly Inn and to Tasia Jackson for the love and care of our beautiful mother.
