Meridee Richert's Obituary
Meridee Joy Richert
1949 - 2011
Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, aunt, friend, choir director, pianist and piano teacher; Meridee was born in Tacoma, WA on March 5, 1949 as the first daughter of Gerald and Joyce Linder. She accepted Christ as her savior at an early age and served the Lord with gladness for all her days. She graduated from Curtis High School and married Tim Curtis in 1967. They had two daughters, Joyce Kathleen and Julie Joy. Besides her family, Meridee's first love was always the piano. She received her first piano from her parents when she was in fourth grade - a refurbished player piano. She began using her talent in high school by playing for choirs. She also played the piano at church and led youth and children's choirs in musicals and competitions. She served several area churches as music minister throughout her years in Tacoma, and she taught piano lessons for over 35 years to many grateful students. Her other interests included decorating, attending concerts, her two Yorkies, traveling, and visits from her grandkids. In 1992 she married Vern Richert and they continued to serve churches with their combined musical talents in Arizona, Georgia, and most recently Texas; faithfully serving and loving every minute. Even through her battle with cancer these last couple years, she continued teaching her students and working at the church right up until her admission into hospice care. She went to be with Jesus her Lord on July 28, 2011 in Houston, TX. We are sure she is already leading a choir or playing the piano for her dad's quartet in heaven. Those remaining behind are her husband Vern Richert, daughters Joyce Brown (Jerry) and Julie Curtis, grandchildren Tristan, Lauren, Chloe, and Jerry, mother Joyce Linder, sisters Pam Bennett (John), Patricia Rody (Gordon), and Marlys Linder-Hoffman (Frank), nieces, nephews, cousins, and her two Yorkies, Nicholas and Natasha. A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, August 4th, 2011 at 10:30 am at Life Center, 1717 South Union Avenue in Tacoma, immediately followed by a graveside service for the family at Mountain View Funeral Home, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd. SW in Lakewood. Meridee, you were greatly loved and will be greatly missed. Your music will forever play on in our hearts.
