Melvin James Lewis' Obituary
Melvin “Mel” James “Jim” Lewis passed away November 18, 2022 at the age of 100 with family present in his home at Eliseo, Senior Care Living.
Mel lived a long and wonderful life filled with many experiences. He was proud of his Navy service and often spoke of his time stationed on Manicani Island fondly. After his Navy term was finished, he worked at the Naval shipyard in Bremerton, Washington. He was a man of many talents — he built his own home and worked on many other homes and projects, he played instruments and danced with Goldie. Mel and Goldie were married for 73 years. He was kind, forgave easily and loved his family and friends deeply.
Born to Oscar Lewis and Ruby Pearl Newman in White Cloud, Kansas, Melvin was preceded in death by his wife Goldie Arvetta Lewis, his son James Earl Lewis, daughter Nancy Ann Schauble, Nancy’s oldest son, Eric Martin Brown, and his nephew Duane Harvey.
Melvin is survived by his granddaughter Corinne Cuppy and her three children (Kaeli, Nathan, and Chloe), granddaughter Erin Conigliaro and her husband (Sal) and their two children (Keegan and Emerson), grandson Darrell Dias. He is also survived by his son-in-law Roger Schauble and many nephews and nieces including nephew Jess Harvey and his wife (Laura), niece Helen Fowler and her husband (Jeff), nephew Ralph Harvey and his wife (Lila), niece Irene Harvey, Ty Harvey and his partner (Christina), and niece Shirley Bizub and her children (Robert, Kimberly, and Shelley), and his late nephew (Duane)’s wife, Joann.
