Melvin Jenkins' Obituary
Melvin Jenkins was born September 4,1940 and departed this life on November 11, 2022 at his home in Spanaway, Washington.
Melvin and his brother Charles were raised in Atlanta, Georgia by their mother the late Kathleen Trammell.
Melvin was educated in the Atlanta school system. After graduation, he entered into the United States Army. While in the Army, he held various leadership positions and traveled extensively with the military to include Europe and Vietnam. Finally, after 20 years of distinguish military service, he retired at Ft. Lewis Washington as a 1st Sergeant.
After retiring from the military, Melvin worked as an insurance agent for many years. He continued his education by attending Evergreen State College where he received a BA degree in Business Management.
Melvin had many hobbies. Among them was playing a weekly game of pinochle with his friends.
Melvin was very dedicated to working with the Prince Hall Grand Lodge. During his tenure, he held many positions. Among them were, District Deputy Grand Master. Under his Masonic tenure he was instrumental in establishing Spanaway Lodge No. 73 and Fred U. Harris No. 70. He was also Past Master of Egyptian Lodge No. 44. and was a member of Cascadian Consistory No.75.
Melvin was preceded in death by his mother Kathleen Trammell and his brother Charles Jenkins.
Mourning the loss but cherishing the memories are his children Melvin Jenkins Jr. (Skyla Jenkins), Veronica Yvette Jenkins, and Marcus Jay Jenkins (Sonia Flores), nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
