Melvin F. Challender
Melvin passed on Oct. 15, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. Melvin was born in Tacoma on Oct 6, 1921. He served in World War II, was a member of the VFW, DAV #1, and the DVA Blind Association
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Anna Ruth; children Gloria Bishop, Fred (Karen) Challender and Linda Elliott; brother Preston (Claudine); 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his 2 sisters and 3 brothers.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, Oct 19 at 1:00 pm in the Valley Chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home., 4100 Steilacoom Blvd, Lakewood, WA 98499. Visitation will take place on Friday, October 18 from 11:00 am – 5:00 pm. His family would like to provide a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Heartwood Extended Health Care.
