Melicio Biti Yago's Obituary
Melicio “Mel” B. Yago, 91, died on February 15, 2020 with his family by his side. He was born in Kohala, HI, the son of Damaso and Alipia (Natividad) Yago.
Mel attended high school in Hawaii, and after graduation he joined the United States Army, where he proudly served his country for over 26 years. After his retirement from the Army, Mel moved his family to Washington and began working at Boeing. On October 11, 1954, he married the love of his life, Tori Watabe, and together they shared over 65 years of marriage. Mel was a jokester, and liked making others laugh. He enjoyed music and dancing with Tori. Mel also enjoyed gardening, and taking pictures, but his favorite thing was his family and spending time with them gathered for celebrations and meals.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Tori; daughters, Angeline Yago and Kathreen Yago; grandchildren, Naidine (Rosa) Flores and Aaron (Amanda) Smith; great grandchildren, Leo Segovia, Elizabeth Mendoza, and Kailli Bell; and sister, Magdelena. In addition to his parents, Mel is predeceased by his sisters, Mary, Elisa, Donicia, Irene, and Nancy.
A shelter service will be celebrated at 10:30am on Friday, March 6, at Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 SE 240th St., Kent, WA 98042.
Please honor the life and memory of Mel by leaving cherished memories, messages, and photos for his family on the guestbook page.
