Melanie Ryan's Obituary
Melanie Joan Ryan passed away October 29th, 2012 at her home in Lakewood, Washington after a short but courageous bout with cancer. She was born on March 22, 1949 in Yakima, WA to parents William and Ruth Speirs.
She was married October 28th, 1972 to David Paul Ryan in Portland, OR. Blessedly, she was able to celebrate her 40th anniversary. Melanie graduated from Grant High School in Portland in 1967 and followed with a degree as a RN in 1970.
Melanie is survived by husband David Paul Ryan, son Shane Matthew Ryan and his wife Rebecca of Seattle, and daughter Ashley Rose Ryan of Seattle.
Melanie was a life-long lover of animals and was comforted in her final days by dogs Vinnie, Molly, and Cooper. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, crafts, bargain hunting, and traveling in the NW and BC.
There will be a private service in Lakewood and a celebration of her life at a later date in Portland, OR. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a humane society or an animal rescue group.
