Maxine E. Brewer's Obituary
Maxine E. Brewer, a longtime resident of Tacoma, passed away at the age of 86 in Tacoma.Maxine was born May 17, 1919, in Fresno, California, to Chester and Olivia Carpenter. She grew up in Fresno where she graduated High School. Maxine met her future husband, Holbert Calvert, while he was in the U.S. Army Air Corp. They were later married and raised two sons in the countryside of West Virginia. As a homemaker, Maxine tended the garden and in her free time enjoyed reading to her sons. She also enjoyed dancing, a hobby she continued after moving to Tacoma in 1978. Maxine was recognized throughout the Senior Centers as a Â"real stepper.Â" Her sons remember her as a great and fantastic mother.She is survived by her two sons, Frank and Steven Calvert, both of Ohio; eight grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.Maxine was preceded in death by her first husband, Holbert, in 1974; second husband, Andy Baird, in 1993; and third husband, Harold Brewer, in June of this year.
