Max Lee Mitchell
Max was born May 20, 1947 in Fullerton, California to James Mitchell and Iris Eien Mitchell. Max went home to be with the Lord on May 16, 2012. He graduated from Wilson High School in 1965. He attended TCC, Western Washington State College and, in 1970, completed a Bachelor of Arts in History at U.P.S. He went on to complete postgraduate studies at U.P.S and University of Washington. Music was Max's passion. He played drums with many local bands from 1969 to the present time. Max also enjoyed a teaching career that spanned over 40 years, including 18 years at Annie Wright School and his most recent position teaching social studies and special education at Challenger Secondary School for the last 15. Max was active in the Bethel Education Association and Local #117 of the American Federation of Musicians. Max is survived by his sister Linda, nieces Tonya and Tracie, several great nieces and nephews, and close friend Patti. A Celebration of Life event for Max is being planned for the summer. Donations made in memory of Max will be used to provide assistance for Challenger Secondary School students, payable to Bethel Community Services, 18020 E. B Street, Spanaway, 98387.
