Mavis L. DuckworthÂ" Relatives are the family we are born with, but friends are the family we choose. Passed away suddenly on July 22, 2003 at the age of 48. Mavis was born July 15, 1955 and was raised in Spanaway, WA. She graduated from Bethel High School in 1973, and attended Clover Park Technical Institute from 1976-1978 to pursue her life-long passion of photography culminating her photographic and lab technician degree. Mavis was employed by Richcolor Custom Lab for a span of 17 years as a film processor, in addition to her work at Benco Photo Northwest from 1982-1986. Her dedication and commitment to her work was unsurpassed to all who had the pleasure of knowing and working with her. She was most recently employed at St. Vincent DePaul.Mavis was honored to serve as a board member of Triangle Square, assuming the position of Treasurer and Secretary.Mavis continually strived to enhance her knowledge and skills personally and professionally. Her favorite hobbies included photography, horticulture and fishing, as well as being a season ticket holder to the Seattle Storm. Mavis is preceded in death by her father Earcle, her mother Minnie and her brother Ricky.She is survived by her chosen family; Betty Lutz, Zachary and Tamara Whittlesey, Ms. Bogus and Miss Scarlet, as well as an extensive circle of friends.A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 28, 2003 at 1:00 PM in the Mt. View Celebration of Life Center. 4100 Steilacoom Blvd. SW, Tacoma, WA 98499.
