Maura Lorenza Santos' Obituary
Nuestra amada, Maura Lorenza Santos (“Maya”), falleció en paz en su casa rodeada de seres queridos el 1 de marzo de 2023 después de una batalla contra el cáncer. Nació en San José El Rinconcito, Guatemala el 10 de agosto de 1962 de Raymundo Del Cid y Felicita Arriaga. Maura era la séptima de 17 hijos y siempre compartió que tener una familia grande fue una de sus mayores bendiciones.
Maura y su esposo, Carlos, crecieron juntos en Rincón. Comenzaron a salir juntos en 1978, se enamoraron y se casaron en 1988. Ese mismo año, emigraron a los Estados Unidos en busca de mejores oportunidades y se establecieron en el estado de Washington.
Maura era una trabajadora diligente e hizo todo lo que pudo para darle a su familia la mejor vida posible. Esto incluyó algunos sacrificios y no tener mucho tiempo para descansar. Sabemos que ahora está descansando en los brazos de Dios como Él siempre ha querido.
Maura era la definición del amor. Personas de todos los ámbitos de la vida irradiaban hacia su espíritu generoso, acogedor y amoroso. Durante gran parte de su vida, su hogar fue un lugar de reunión, abierto a cualquier persona en cualquier momento. En su casa, la gente se reunía para comer, bailar, cantar, llorar y amarse unos a otros. Maura nutrió y creó este amoroso hogar todos los días. Estaba tan orgullosa de eso.
Maura era conocida por muchos nombres, pero el que más la enorgullecía era el de abuela. Cuando nació su primer nieto, Josiah, él abrió un nuevo nivel de amor en ella. Adoraba a sus nietos y movería cielo y tierra por ellos si se lo pidieran.
El legado de Maura seguirá vivo en todos los que la conocieron. Le sobreviven su amado esposo durante 35 años, Carlos Santos, sus hijos Carlos (Tiffany) y Magaly (Mari), sus nietos Josiah, Nydene, Romy, Xavier, Jayden, Caleb y Zamir, sus 8 hermanos y 6 hermanas, y su gran familia extendida. Todos los que la conocieron la extrañarán profundamente.

Our beloved, Maura Lorenza Santos (“Maya”), passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by loved ones on March 1, 2023 after a battle with cancer. She was born in San Jose El Rinconcito, Guatemala on August 10, 1962 to Raymundo Del Cid and Felicita Arriaga. Maura was the 7th of 17 kids and she always shared how having a large family was one of her greatest blessings.
Maura and her husband, Carlos, grew up together in Rincon. They started dating in 1978, fell in love and were married in 1988. That same year, they immigrated to the United States for better opportunities and made a home in Washington State.
Maura was a diligent worker and she did all that she could to give her family the best life possible. This included some sacrifices and neglecting her rest. We know she is now resting in the arms of God as He has always intended.
Maura was love itself. People from all walks of life radiated towards her generous, welcoming and loving spirit. For much of her life, her home was a gathering place - open to anyone at any time. In her home, folks would come together to eat, dance, sing, cry, and love one another. Maura nurtured and created this loving home each and every day. She was so proud of it.
Maura was known by many names, but her proudest was grandma. When her first grandchild, Josiah, was born, he unlocked a new level of love in her. She adored her grandchildren and would move heaven and earth for them if they asked.
Maura’s legacy will continue to live on in all who knew her. She is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Carlos Santos, her children Carlos (Tiffany) and Magaly (Mari), her grandchildren Josiah, Nydene, Romy, Xavier, Jayden, Caleb and Zamir, her 8 brothers and 6 sisters, and her large extended family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
