July 20, 1935 – March 27, 2023
Matthias D. Flom of Tacoma, WA passed away at home, surrounded by family. He was born in
Fargo, North Dakota & lived many places, but always remembered Whidbey Island as his favorite.
Throughout his youth he enjoyed baseball, basketball, football, track & boxing & was on more than
one championship team. He attended several schools including Visitation, St Leo’s & Puyallup High.
He had a great passion for Jesus & his catholic faith. He prayed for everyone he met.
Tip was a retired truck driver & talented musician. He continued to play guitar at open mic nights
& for family until recently. He was a member of the Tacoma Music Association, Western Teamsters,
Moose Lodge & Knights of Columbus.
He is preceded in death by daughter, Harmony, his parents, Catherine & Robert Flom & 3 brothers.
He is survived by spouse Lora Flom & their children, Melody (Jeff), Jill (Tony), Jeffrey,
Katrina (Kevin), Melissa (Darryl), Jennifer (Brian), Shane (Sarah), Veronica, 26 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren (with 1 on the way),1 great great grandchild, 3 brothers, 3 sisters, many nieces, nephews, cousins, Godchildren & friends.

Viewing @ Mt. View funeral home in Lakewood, Thursday April 13th, 3pm-7pm. Rosary will be prayed @ 7:00pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated Friday April 14th 12:00pm at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (4520 McKinley Ave, Tacoma 98404) followed by internment at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Tacoma. A reception will follow 2:00 pm at the Lakewood Moose Lodge (4220 109th St SW, Lakewood 98499)
