Matthew John Stephanik's Obituary
Msg. (Retired) Matthew J. Stephanik, 87, passed away Friday, September 14, 2007 at his home in Tacoma, WA. He was born on August 2, 1920 in Woonsocket, Rhode Island to Joseph and Delia (Satko) Szczepanik.He served in the U.S. Army during WW II, Korean and Vietnam wars. He retired after thirty years in 1973. Matt was a very private man who loved to shop for special gifts for his beloved family. His family and friends will miss his precious ways and positive sense of humor but will have peace knowing that his pain of being without his lovely wife Nancy Kazuko Stephanik is no more.Matt is survived by his daughters, Janet (Nobi) Ishikawa of Tacoma, WA, Sophia (Joe) Bosser of Lakewood, WA; sons George Stephanik of Maryland, Michael (Barbara) Stephanik of Lakewood, WA; brother John (Vivian) Stephanik of Rhode Island; Sister, Sophia Stephanik of Rhode Island; grandchildren Melissa, Maria, Nicole, Tyler, Devin, Jennifer and Brian; Great Grandchild, Nathaniel.Graveside service will be held at 11:30 am, Thursday, September 20, 2007 at Mt. View Memorial Park, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd, Lakewood, WA. Military honors provided by the U.S. Army. The family wishes to thank the staff and residents at the Village Retirement Community, Madigan Army Medical Center and Franciscan Hospice of Tacoma.
